I fully agree,The book called "The Kidnapped Prince" which tells us about Equiano's life at earlier age, the picture and dress code is evident enough that he is an African. Do you agree or disagree with me?
Nomabali Nogemana I fully agree with you on the fact that the book called the kidnapped prince gives us an idea about what Equiano's life was like when he was much younger as well as the fact that it proves to us that he is indeed an African. Although I don't think his dress code is English, I think that's just the way in which everyone used to dress during the olden days.
Kayla Adams, I also agree with Nomabali that his dress code is English. After all he pride himself in being a English gentleman. but I can help but to wonder why he completely cross cultures so easily given the fact that he was so traumatized during his childhood by these very Englishmen that kidnapped him from his home yet he adopted their culture!
Erleen Botha, I disagree with you simply because in order for Equiano to have been take seriously he had to adapt to the English way of doing things as well as the English culture. He was in a sense a hybrid (being African by birth and English by culture) being able to embrace both his African heritage and need found English heritage. Equiano in no way denied his heritage. So if you are saying that he threw away his heritage by wearing clothes worn by englishmen of that time then many African people today are throwing away their heritage by conforming to the western culture as well as language for that matter
Equiano's features is evident that he is an African however his dress code is English? what do you think?
