I completely disagree with this statement simply because I believe that Equiano's memory was not based on fiction but it was made up from past experiences. My argument is that if he had not experienced all the events which he describes to us in his interesting narrative then he would not have been able to give us such serious, in depth emotional descriptions of his past life.
To a certain degree, I do think that Equaino might have sensationalized some of his stories, however it does not take away from the essence that he could have been from African and in conjunction with his jumbled series of events he accounts.
